Crystal Pool started operations in 1992, following the ordering of three ice classed parcel tanker newbuildings of 8000 tdw by Finnish Owners Messrs Hollming Ltd. These vessels, mt Crystal Amethyst,

mt Crystal Emerald and mt Crystal Pearl were delivered in 1994 and entered into a Pool arrangement

with Finnish state owned Oil Company Messrs.

Neste Oy, who at the time was involved in the Chemical Industry and Chemical Shipping.

These vessels are still trading in the Crystal Pool fleet, mainly in the area which they were

tailor-made for, Baltic – North Sea and vice versa.

The next change in the operation occurred in 1995, when Neste had sold their Chemical Industry and consequently

wished to exit also from Chemical Shipping. The pool arrangement was terminated amicably and Hollming decided to continue operations alone under the Crystal Pool banner. A company with this name, Crystal Pool Ltd.,

was established and started operations in July, 1995.

The company operated a fleet consisting of a mixture of owned and time chartered tonnage.

The owned tonnage grew in 2006 with two more newbuildings, mt Crystal Topaz and mt Crystal Diamond,

both of 11.000 tdw. Also these vessels have stainless steel tanks and lines and

Finnish/Swedish iceclass 1 A,and remain in the fleet.

The company gained during the late 1990ies a strong market position in the North West European

chemical parcel tanker trade. However, the ambition was always to diversify operations to other markets.

This was accomplished through the sale of the Company to Euroceanica (UK) Ltd in the beginning of 2007.

Euroceanica is a group of mainly Italian corporate and private shareholders who brought in more expertise

and financial resources to the operation.  Euroceanica had acquired a seven-vessel strong fleet of stainless

steel parcel tankers in 2005 and wished to expand activities further.

The Euroceanica fleet was expanded further with a series of three 19.999 tdw fully stainless steel chemical

tankers newbuildings which were delivered 2009. T/C arrangements were agreed for these newbuildings.

In 2009 Crystal Pool opened a technical office in Genova which took over from Helsinki the responsibility for vessels maintenance and repairs. In 2010 the Genova office took responsibility also of the Safety and

Quality functions becoming the Group office for vessels technical management.

In 2010 part of the fleet was given for commercial management outside Euroceanica group.

Crystal Pool remains commercially and operationally responsible for six vessels trading in the Baltic-NWE traffic:

Crystal Amethyst

Crystal Diamond

Crystal Emerald

Crystal Pearl

Crystal Skye
